News Release March 2005
Janicki Industries is helping to finance Danielle Fisher of Bow, Washington in her upcoming Mt. Everest climb. Danielle is attempting to become the youngest person to complete the Seven Summits, the highest peaks of the seven continents. Her Seven Summits quest began in January 2003 with Aconcagua in South America. Now with six of the seven mountains conquered, the last and greatest summit remains, Mt. Everest. Currently, the youngest to hold this record is a 23 year old man and a 33 year old woman. The Mt. Everest ascent will begin in May 2005 and the Alpine Ascents International (AAI) team is currently in Nepal preparing for the climb.
The 2003 graduate of Burlington-Edison High School began her climbing career with local mountains Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainier and has turned climbing into a passion. In her own words, "I'm doing this because I want to prove to the world what I've always believed: that I can take the lead and get to wherever I want to go in life; that ADD will never be able to stop me from living my dream. But I'm also doing this for the pure enjoyment of climbing. And what better way to see the world? As Isaac Newton once said, 'If I have seen further than certain other men, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.'"
