Intern Stories: Kailee, 2026 Operation Excellence Intern

Kailee Weisz is spending her summer as a training team intern at Janicki, where she helps build the programs that get employees up to speed on the production floor. A senior at Washington State University and this is her first internship.

Kailee grew up in Mount Vernon and has family in Sedro-Woolley, so she had heard about Janicki before applying. She found the position through an online job board and applied. Now, she splits her time between the production floor and the office, working mainly with the training team and helping with operational excellence.

Her day-to-day work varies. Rather than running a single project, she shadows staff and works through the training programs, which gives her a broad view of how the operation runs. Much of her work centers on training records and Janicki Shorts, two-minute videos that walk through processes on the production floor. She owns most of that work, from prepping a station and filming a team running a process to setting up request boards so teams can reach her when they need a video made.

Learning the video side has meant picking up DaVinci Resolve, an editing program she had not used before. What has surprised her most is the number of systems she is learning at once and the pace of the work. Coming from a psychology background, she did not know much about the work going in, but she says that has not slowed her down.

“Janicki teaches you everything,” she said.

Outside of work, Kailee enjoys anything outdoors. She loves hiking, fishing, and going to concerts and festivals with friends, and she has seen more than 100 artists perform live. Academics matter to her as well. She is a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology and is expected to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in December 2026.

Her advice for students considering Janicki is simple.

“Just go for it,” she said.

Asked to describe Janicki in three words, she chose evolving, interesting and friendly.
