POSITION DESCRIPTION

Assembles and operates various ovens used to test and cure products manufactured by Janicki Industries. Operates and monitors ovens from a remote PC based console and monitoring stations. Actively participates in classroom and on-the-job training leading to reasonable advancement of skills and knowledge. When directed, assists in other work areas including, but not limited to, Mold Fab, Machine or Assembly Cells

The Oven Tech has two levels of competency, Level 1 includes, in-training to Capable and Level 2, Proficient to Expert. Competency is determined by successfully completing the training and acquiring the advanced skillset needed to perform all oven activities. The Cell Manager will determine the competency of Oven Techs.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Reads, interprets and follows work orders and work instructions
  • Uses a variety of power and hand tools, builds, insulates and performs repairs on portable wood and metal framed ovens
  • Identifies and obtains equipment, tools and material needed to perform job functions
  • Receives and carries out directions from designated supervisors and senior technicians
  • Operates, maintains and repairs permanent ovens
  • Uses forklifts, Cranes and pallet jacks, moves, locates and balances large parts in the appropriate ovens.
  • Sets oven ducting to ensure integrity of infusion and vacuum bagging equipment and materials
  • Operates, and monitors ovens from a remote PC based console, and using local oven controls when required
  • Sets up and uses electronic monitoring equipment.
  • Completes documentation of product and processes including: checklists, work orders, data logs and thermocouple maps
  • Enters the Non-Labor hours in P6 and Stored files in the Company database
  • Performs critical debris checks of ovens prior to and after use
  • Understands fire hazard potential, Fire Extinguisher use, and Critical Fire Situation Response
  • Performs routine minor and major maintenance on equipment including, stationery ovens, oven doors, Mayberry Blue ovens and Electric Fan heaters.
  • Trains to AS9100 Standards, 5S, and JI Safety rules, and other qualifications as needed
  • Must have schedule flexibility to work any shift and/or 12 hour shifts as needed to support oven schedules
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Behavior: The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Incumbent must be able to read, understand and comply with all safety practices including the use of MSDS sheets and hazardous material disposal procedures.
  • Being at work on time and maintaining good attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of your job.

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / SPECIALIZED TRAINING:

MUST BE U.S CITIZEN OR LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENT FOR THIS POSITION Proof of US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required due to access to sensitive data and our coverage under EAR and ITAR regulations.

  • High school diploma or GED is required. Beginning operator must have the ability to read, understand and follow work orders and written procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; must have basic computer skills. Prior experience in oven operation in a similar setting is preferred. Over three months and up to one year of experience in a construction or other industrial setting is required. One year of experience in a directly related field may be substituted for education. One year of technical school may be substituted for experience. Must be able to obtain Forklift Certification through Janicki Industries

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Operates ovens; reads and follows technical documents; uses hand and power tools, pallet jacks, and operates forklift

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to sit, stand or crouch down for extended periods; must be able to work as a team member; must be able to read and interpret technical data, must be able to climb ladders and work platforms, must be able to work in either hot or cold environments. Must be able to use various hand and power tools. Job requires the use of personal protective equipment due to hazards relevant to eyes, ears, skin and lungs.
