Savannah is spending her summer as a supply chain intern at Janicki. She grew up in the Bremerton area and graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in computer science and a minor in cybersecurity, and she is heading into her master’s next. This is her first internship, and she is excited to be working in newer territory.

In supply chain, Savannah focuses on SAP and data management, and the work has been broad. She has been learning how receiving works, how buyers do their jobs, how the ordering process flows and how to manage emails. In SAP she has been shadowing to edit information and create new item entries, and an upcoming project has her documenting standard work instructions.

Much of her first stretch has been shadowing rather than solo work, though she has started picking up tasks of her own. Her first week meant shadowing several team members across supply chain management and procurement, along with the team manager, and she says everyone has been wonderful.

What stood out right away was the size of the building and the campus overall, along with how hands-on the training is. Based on past work experience, she expected to be thrown into things, so the level of guidance has been a pleasant surprise.

Her main goal this summer is to learn as much as she can, since supply chain is a new area for her. Outside of work, she enjoys knitting, baking and freediving.

Her advice for prospective applicants is simple. “Just do it, don’t overthink it,” she said. “It doesn’t hurt to apply.”

Asked to describe Janicki, Savannah pointed to how much the company is growing and its pretty campus.
